HANSENS CYKELLØB

120 km Gravel Race – With a lot of ice cream on the side

A GREAT DAY ON AND OFF THE BIKE

Hansens cykelløb (Hansen’s Bike Race) is something of a first. The race combines 120km of riding on a mix of gravel and tarmac with a gastronomic experience. The race is born out the Danish tradition of good, pure, quality food as well as bike racing in the beautiful Danish nature.

THE START

All started the day in front of the old Hansens dairy factory in the north of Sealand. Different people had different objectives for the day ahead; some wanted to race as fast as their legs would allow them to, others wished to spend the day trying in new terrain on this adventure ride. One thing was in common, everyone who was standing behind the Hansens Ice Cream truck was excited.

A BIG BUNCH OF EXCITED RIDERS

As the riders passed over the bridge crossing Roskilde Fjord, the race would soon enter the first sectors of gravel.

EVERYTHING IS ON TRACK HERE

A very well planned route took the riders to special places.

GRINDING GRAVEL

People often end up in smaller groups, of riders who can sustain the same tempo.

NEVER LOSE YOUR GRIP – ON YOUR ICE CREAM

The stops along the route were all good – this one took the prize. Happy riders enjoying ice cream at Sørup Is on the banks of lake Esrum.

FINDING THE LIMITS OF YOUR GRAVEL BIKE

Not everything was big gravel roads. Some more technical sections made the day more challenging – especially for those on road bikes.

AFTER THE RACE

After the race everyone chatted, laughed and shared their experience with beers, burgers and of course the delicious Hansens Ice cream.
